All our holiday homes are situated along the "Costa the de la Luz" between Cádiz and Vejer de la Frontera. 3000 hours sun per year is a guarantee for wonderful beach days. In the summer months it is hot and dry with cooling winds at the coast, the remaining months can get rain showers from time to time.
Where Columbus and colleagues started to conquer America, the tourism still is on a slow path. The traveller finds traces of a great history of the old "Al-Andalus" and a coast with wide and empty sand beaches. The close hinterland enchants with the "white Villages" Vejer de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia and Arcos de la Frontera.
The Costa de la Luz was an important trading post with the Romans and the
Moors. The discovery travels of Christopher Columbus started an enormous upswing
in the cities at the Spanish Atlantic coast,
which reflects until today in the
magnificent buildings of the cities´ old parts. In medieval Andalucia the conflicts
between Moors and Christians constantly shifted the borders; therefore many Andalucian
towns carry the name - de la Frontera - at the border.
Moorish culture, Fiestas and Sherry spoil the senses and with a daytrip to Seville,
the home of Flamenco, you find many examples of the fusion of Moorish and Christian culture.
In spring and summer plenty of Christian processions, fairs and celebrations
(ferias and fiestas) take place in Andalucia.
Most well-known is "Semana Santa" -
the Passion Week in Seville and the "Feria del Caballo" in Jerez (for horse fans a must).
Also you shouldn’t miss a visit to one of the Bodegas of the famous Sherry triangle
Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María or Sanlúcar de Barrameda. And how about
a "Tapeo", a popular trip from one Tapa bar to the other, where these small appetizers
are rinsed down with a sip of Sherry.
